West Jordan Vibes
The 3rd largest city in Utah, West Jordan is home to around 118k residents. It is located about 20 minutes south/southwest of downtown Salt Lake City and the SLC Airport. It is bordered to the north by the cities of Taylorsville, Kearns, and West Valley City, to the east by the cities of Murray, Midvale, and Sandy, to the south by South Jordan, and to the west by Salt Lake County.
With beautiful views of the Oquirrh Mountains, it is a massive chunk of land with tons of single-family homes and tons of suburban amenities. The Jordan Landing shopping mall has literally every suburban amenity needed. It is one of the largest mixed-use developments in the Intermountain West.
Served by the Jordan School District which is rated a B*, most of the schools serving West Jordan are just okay. However the district is rated the 10th best for athletes*. The high schools serving the city are West Jordan HS, Copper Hills HS, and Bingham HS which are rated C+, B, and B+ respectively*. The middle schools and elementary schools range from B+ on the higher end and down to C on the lower end*. Of note, the best rated schools are typically in the southwestern portion, while the schools in the north/west central portion is the middle of the road schools, and the schools in the eastern portion are rated the lowest. Home prices typically follow suit here as well.
In regards to West Jordan neighborhoods for families with young children, the Copper Hills and Daybreak neighborhoods would be perfect. Both offer plenty of parks and playgrounds, as well as good schools. If you're looking for something more urbanized, the area around The District is perfect. This newly developed district offers all the eats, drinks, shops, and socializing spots to keep you busy all day long.
Home Price Statistics
The median sale price in West Jordan is around $500k. This is right on par with the Salt Lake City metro median which is also around $500k. If you're looking for a single-family home, currently on the market prices range from around $325k on the low end and upwards of around $1.7m on the high end. You're more likely to find the barrier of entry into a single-family home in West Jordan at around $400k.
If it's a condo or townhome you're interested in, currently on the market prices range from around $275k on the low end and upwards of around $625k on the high end. Approximately 75% of West Jordan residents own their home, with around 25% renting.

Con associated with suburbs - cookie cutter homes and amenities, and not walkable for errands
