Home to around 82,000 residents, South Jordan is the 9th largest city in Utah and is located about 20 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City and about 25 minutes to the airport. It is bordered to the north by the city of West Jordan, to the east by the city of Sandy, to the southeast by the city of Draper, to the south by the cities of Riverton and Herriman, and to the west by Salt Lake County and the township of Copperton.


Population is growing significantly in South Jordan. Since the 2010 census, the city has grown approximately 63%. With solid schools, tons of suburban amenities, and quiet, well-maintained neighborhoods, we can see why folks are moving here. South Jordan is rated the 19th Best Suburb for Young Professionals and 19th Best Suburb to Raise a Family in Utah*.


Speaking of schools, South Jordan is served by the Jordan School District, which is rated a B*. There are two high schools primarily serving the city. The first being Bingham High School, rated a B+* and serves the majority of South Jordan. The other being Herriman High School, rated a B+* as well, and primarily serves the 'Daybreak' community in the southwestern portion of the city. There are three middle schools - South Jordan, Elk Ridge, and Copper Mountain, rated B+, B, and B-* respectively. Lastly, there are about 7 elementary schools serving the city ranging from an A- to a B- rating*.


Home Price Statistics


Most of South Jordan residents own their home, with an 81% to 19% homeowner vs renter ratio. South Jordan has a very nice blend of high-end homes as well as more affordable homes. It is not completely homogenous, and there is a variety of housing stock with a lot of new construction coming in as well as established homes.


The median home price in South Jordan comes in around $600k, not far above the Salt Lake City metro median of around $560k. If you're looking for a single-family home in South Jordan, currently on the market homes range from around $412k on the low end and upwards of around $2.8m on the high end. If you're interested in a condo or townhome, prices currently on the market range from around $215k and upwards of $1.35m.

  • Cons associated with suburbs - not walkable, cookie cutter neighborhoods, cookie cutter amenities, you're driving to the city for most cultural happenings
