Tour of Central City in Salt Lake City, Utah

Today we're checking out the Central City neighborhood in Salt Lake City, Utah!

With a hustle and bustle and, it's known for its art galleries, indie music venues, and Trolley Square. Central City, aka "Downtown Plus" as I'll call it, is a great spot. With plenty of gastropubs, bars, cocktail lounges, restaurants, and shops, there's no shortage of social gathering spots. Jazz games, great outdoor spaces, and super walkable.

Let's go!

Central City Vibes

A vibrant neighborhood with a population of around 46k residents, Central City is the main core of residential and commercial areas in Salt Lake City. It includes the downtown area as well as the Ballpark, East Central, and Windsor Place neighborhoods. It is a fairly densely populated neighborhood overall with the northwestern portion being the downtown area and it becomes increasingly residential as you move further out east and south.

Trolley Square is a popular destination here that was once a Trolley Car barn. It has since been converted into a higher-end commercial space with tenants like Whole Foods, CorePower Yoga, and Williams Sonoma. There are also art and home furnishing galleries, bars/breweries, restaurants, boutiques, fitness shops, and lifestyle/self-care shops. Another really great spot is 9th and 9th - home to lots of cool, local spots to eat, drink, and shop.

A great spot for young professionals as it's accessibility to downtown and the surrounding commercial areas. A bonus is that the neighborhood has good schools overall. Served by the Salt Lake City School District, most of the schools are rated between A and B-.*
